Jay Versus the Saxophone of Doom

Written by Kara Kootstra.
Published in 2017 by Penguin.

Jay Roberts loves hockey. He’s good at it. He also loves his hockey hero, Bobby Orr, considered a legend by Jay’s grandfather. In fact, even though they may bicker, when it comes to the Bruins, the whole family agrees that they are the team to root for.
When it comes to hockey, Jay’s a team player, but there’s one person who seems determined to make life hard for Jay: his classmate and fellow team member, Mick Bartlet. It’s a good thing Jay can usually stickhandle his way out of his bullying. But something else is determined to make Jay’s life difficult, something far harder for Jay to play: the saxophone.

I really liked this book. It had a lot of problems at the start, but it solves, in funny forms. Everybody goes through problems, so this isnt much special, but that doesnt mean i wouldnt like it. Definitely 5 stars. Great use of my time

This book was a ton of fun to read, I honestly couldn’t put it down!

Jay is just a kid who loves hockey, to him and his family Bobby Orr is a legend! Then in school he gets chosen to play a saxophone, can Jay learn to play saxophone and get good grades, or will he fail music?

This book is full of fun and I think anybody who reads it would enjoy it.

I thought this book was very fun to read. If i just looked at the title i would never had thought it would be that good of a book.

I really appreciated this book as it is good for anyone if you are a band nerd (Me) or a hockey player. This book has a good moral; you can do anything if you try to, which makes it a bit cheesy but still entertaining. I would give this book 4/5 stars. it proves everyone goes through problems and they can get sorted out. The overall storyline is great, but it did not 100% follow the title.

The book is really funny and shows how passion can get you places. I like this book because it shows a kids life as a grade sixer.

It’s a good thing Jay can usually stickhandle his way out of his bullying. But something else is determined to make Jay’s life difficult other than Mick Bartlet. The saxophone. I think this story is packed with adventure and suspense. One reason it’s packed with suspense is that you don’t know if the saxophone will get the score or Jay will get the score. Another reason is that . The main reason it is packed with adventure is that it takes place in a middle-school and that is a main place for adventure. A reason it is packed with rivalry is that there is a lot of fighting between Mick and Jay. I would recommend this book to anyone who can read and understands humour because It has a lot of strong vocabulary and has a bunch of humour. It is one of the best book that I have read, and that is saying a lot because I’ve read a lot of very good books.
